Description de l'article
Flashback: Essen, Stauderstraße in the Altenessen district, spring 1982, a small musty rehearsal room in an industrial wasteland. Three long-haired individuals have tuned their instruments to sharp and are cranking away at their first demo tape at roaring volumes. The song is called 'Witching Metal' and proves to be a hard-hitting thrash metal of the purest kind. 'At that time, we basically chose the wrong key, but we didn't care about musical correctness, it was all about the attitude. We were against the establishment, had trouble with our teachers and trainers, as they believed we dressed inappropriately and listened to the wrong music,' reflects Sodom boss Tom Angelripper on his youth. 'In trade school, I was the only one into metal. Everyone else listened to New Wave or Neue Deutsche Welle.' It's been 41 years since then, but the influence of that formative era extends into the present. That's why Tom and Sodom have written the track '1982' and musically and lyrically reminisce about the band's early beginnings. Both '1982' and re-recordings of their early songs 'Witching Metal', 'Victims Of The Death', 'Let's Fight In The Darkness Of Hell', and 'Equinox' are now being immortalized on Vinyl for the first time.
