In addition to numerous accolades, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 as a co-founder and original lead guitarist of KISS. Guitar World selected him as one of the top 15 '100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time' and included 'Shock Me' on the list of the '50 Greatest Guitar Solos of All Time'.
